In this personal project, I was required to think of what I want to do. In my first week, I had an idea of wanting to do a animated video incorporating values that can teach children and I also love writing and creating stories. However, I look back on my previous animation work and realised my skills still need some practising as my animation is isn't so fluid. Then, I thought again that my current animation is more likely suited in interactive animation web. I thought and thought of wanting to do animation so I decided to create a combination of interactive web and animated video. I tried finding interactive web that shows storytelling and one of them is The Hybrid Graphic Novel by Peugeot Hybrid4 (graphicnovel-hybrid4.peugeot.com/start.html). During the next class on Week 2, Mr Vincent shows few videos on design ideas and how it can provide to the community. Wanting to create a story and thought of putting informative articles together but I needed to think of a problem statement and the solution. I re- think again and found a problem statement; to raise awareness of endangered animals and the reason they are decreased in numbers. The target audience I want to influenced are children aged 8 to 13 and if possible teenagers. The reason why I chose the selected target audience is because children are easily influenced by the things and subject around them and parents will listen to them on what they want or share stories on the child's achievement or situation, creating a conversation between parents and child. Moreover, children are getting smarter with the technology and problems surrounding them, us and the world (knowledge resulted from 1 session of Bible study on children and youths ;p). As a referenced, I looked into the interactive website about 30 endangered animals around the world, "In Pieces" (www.species-in-pieces.com/#). Another inspiration is Junko's Story: Surviving Hiroshima's Atomic Bomb. It is a interactive web talking about a real story of a atomic bomb survivor with side images that contain informative articles. www.sbs.com.au/hiroshima/ However, I tried finding websites that have a combination of the interactive animation above and animated video but with no avail. Interactive e- books are another option of inspiration for my idea. Later, I finally found the content I was looking for, remembering a senior did shared something two year back, so what similar I want to do, a interactive video which can be found here: www.coldplay.com/ink/. With a clear idea of creating what I want, an interactive video, I can start planning on my project.
